How Is Smartlipo™ Done?
Using local anesthesia in the doctor’s office, a laser fiber is introduced through a small cannula by way of a tiny incision in the area to be treated. The Smartlipo™ laser delivers energy that actually ruptures fat cells, and the resulting damaged fat cells are then removed by
Dr. Wolin via suction. The Smartlipo™ laser seals the blood vessels as it zaps fat, inducing collagen retraction and tissue tightening. There is also less swelling, bleeding and bruising than the traditional liposuction allowing faster patient recovery. The Smartlipo™ treatment normally lasts 45 minutes to an hour.
